Josh Hart is close to staying with the New Orleans Pelicans on a three-year, $38 million deal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. Hart was a restricted free agent this season, but failed to generate any offer sheets because the Pelicans were likely to match. Fortunately, the guard was able to secure a long-term deal with the team.
Hart is a capable two-way rotation player, averaging 9.2 points and 8.0 rebounds in 28.7 minutes per game. The guard will need to re-discover his three-point shooting to become more effective alongside Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.
The Pelicans were able to secure a consistent role player on their terms and Hart gets to return to an environment he was comfortable with. At this price, the reported deal looks to be a bargain for both sides.
The Pelicans will hope to contend this upcoming season, but are +4500 to win the conference according to DraftKings Sportsbook. They are +9000 to win the NBA title.
