The New York Jets enter another rebuild with new head coach Robert Saleh and rookie QB Zach Wilson, hoping to get the franchise back on the right track. Wilson was taken No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL draft and hopes to be a big part of New York’s future as a contender.
Here we’ll take a look at the workload for rookie QB Zach Wilson in New York Jets’s Week 1 preseason game against the New York Giants and how he performed during his reps.
Zach Wilson’s Week 1 stat line
6/9, 63 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT
How did Zach Wilson perform in Week 1?
Wilson had a few good throws, including a nice out route to big free agent signing Corey Davis. The BYU product was fairly average on the day, but was mistake free. It’s only the first preseason game, but Wilson did look comfortable in the pocket and delivered good throws. If he can consistently make plays for the Jets, the team will at least be competitive in Year 1 of the rebuild.
