James Robinson was one of the best surprises stories from last season. The undrafted free agent out of Illinois State established himself as a starting caliber NFL running back rushing over 1,000 yards. However, despite his success, new Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer used one of their first round picks on former Clemson RB Travis Etienne in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Here, we’ll take a look at the prop bets on the table for Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the 2021 NFL season and make our picks.
670.5 rushing yards: Over (-110) or Under (-120)
Our pick: Over
Last season, Robinson exploded onto the scene, rushing for 1,040 yards on 240 carries and 7 touchdowns. He was one of the best steals in fantasy football and was the team’s feature back on a weekly basis. Out of 14 games played, Robinson only had four 100-yard or more rushing yard games.
With the addition of Etienne, he might only have two 100-yard rushing yard games, but I still think he gets over 670.5 rushing yards. Unless Etienne comes in and shines in all facets, the now second-year running back should be early and often in the Jaguars’ offense.
4 rushing TDs: Over (-120) or Under (-110)
Our pick: Over
Unlike with Robinson’s rushing yards prop, his rushing touchdowns prop is a tad bit juiced at four. However, even those the odds sit at -120, he should be able to go over that amount with relative ease. Last season, Robinson had four rushing touchdowns by Week 7 and he scored his fifth touchdown in Week 9.
Now granted, the Jaguars have a crowded backfield with him, Etienne, and Carlos Hyde going into this season. But Robinson showed last season that’s he effective inside the red zone with all seven rushing scores coming inside that range.
