The Dallas Cowboys enter the 2021-22 season hoping to rise to the top of the NFC East, a division which appears wide open. Last season’s division champions Washington Football Team finished 7-9, so Dallas doesn’t have to make a big leap to stay in contention. QB Dak Prescott returns from an ankle injury and the offense appears to be ready to take off with him. If Prescott stays healthy, the Cowboys will feel they are the favorites in the division.
Here, we’ll take a look at the prop bets on the table for Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the 2021 NFL season and make our picks.
1100.5 rushing yards: Over (-120) or Under (-110)
Our pick: Over
Elliott had a bad season in 2020-21. He averaged 65.3 yards per game and 4.0 yards per carry, both career lows. The running back had COVID last offseason and didn’t look like his usual self for much of the year. Prescott being sidelined didn’t help his case either, as defenders stacked the box to slow down Elliott. He still accumulated 979 yards in 15 games. The same level of production over 17 games puts Elliott at 1,110.1 yards, which is over this line. However, expect him to return to his usual self this upcoming season and have a big year.
1500.5 rushing and receiving yards: Over (-115) or Under (-115)
Our pick: Over
Elliott has quietly emerged as a capable receiver in Dallas’ offense, getting 71 targets in each of the last two seasons. His rushing yards should improve dramatically and he does enough as a receiver to warrant taking the over here. At 24.5 yards per game (his average over the last two seasons), Elliott would rack up 416.5 yards. We already took the over on 1100.5, and 416.5 puts us over the 1500.5 line here.
9.5 rushing TDs: Over (-120) or Under (-110)
Our pick: Over
Five of Elliott’s six rushing touchdowns in 2020 came in games Prescott played. He gets better looks defensively when the quarterback is in the game as opposed to a lesser passer. Elliott should bounce back from a disappointing year, but Prescott staying healthy will also benefit him. 10 touchdowns is a lot, but Elliott should hit that mark in 17 games.
