The Kansas City Chiefs looked destined to rack up Super Bowl trophies with the arrival and development of Patrick Mahomes, but the team fell short to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in surprising fashion in last season’s final game. Mahomes is back with a massive extension and looking to reclaim the throne. He’ll have his full arsenal back, including stars WR Tyreek Hill and TE Travis Kelce. Kansas City’s defense should be improved, although Frank Clark’s legal situation is worth monitoring. The Chiefs were humiliated in the Super Bowl last year; expect this team to show no mercy in 2021.
1300.5 receiving yards: Over (-115) or Under (-115)
Our pick: Over
Kelce has hit the over on this total in two of the past three seasons and could’ve made it three for three if Mahomes didn’t miss time in 2019. The tight end is one of the best weapons in football and should be on a war path after a bitter loss in the Super Bowl. This offense is going to be insane again and Kelce is a big part of it. Throw in a 17th game and you’ve got a good chance of the over paying off.
10 receiving TDs: Over (+100) or Under (-130)
Our pick: Over
Yes, touchdowns tend to regress to the mean and Kelce had 11 scores last season. However, he had 10 touchdowns in Mahomes’ rookie season and could’ve gotten a few more in 2019 if the quarterback didn’t miss some time. Kelce is going to have big games consistently for Kansas City. With an extra game, getting at least 11 touchdowns again should be no problem.
