The Carolina Panthers enter their second season under head coach Matt Rhule, who made the decision to move on from Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback. The Panthers acquired Sam Darnold from the New York Jets and didn’t take a quarterback high in the 2021 NFL draft, signaling Darnold could be the starter heading into the 2021-22 season. With RB Christian McCaffrey and two 1,000-yard receivers in D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson, it’ll be up to Darnold to prove he’s still got what it takes to succeed in the NFL.

Moore racked up 1,193 yards last season, but that was largely due to McCaffrey being out for a significant period of time. Throw in a new quarterback, who may or may not be a downgrade, and you’ve got a recipe for Moore going under 1190.5 yards. That doesn’t mean Moore isn’t a talented receiver; it just shows how much the Panthers rely on McCaffrey offensively.
6 receiving TDs: Over (-130) or Under (+100)
Our pick: Under
In three seasons, Moore has never topped four receiving touchdowns. Given the under is also +100, there’s some value here. Darnold is unlikely to miraculously turn into Tom Brady and start throwing the ball all around the park at a high level. This offense still runs through McCaffrey, and Moore wasn’t able to deliver six touchdowns last year when the star RB was sidelined. It’s hard to predict a career season for Moore in this category given the change at QB.
