Tua Tagovailoa saw mixed results in his first season as an NFL quarterback. He was the No. 5 overall pick by the Miami Dolphins, and he split time with Ryan Fitzpatrick as a rookie. Tagovailoa will go through a full offseason knowing he’s the guy, and working with the No. 1 offense should be important for what is a crucial season early in his career. There are plenty of Tagovailoa doubters, and he can quiet them down with a big Year 2.

Miami upgraded the pass catchers around Tagovailoa this offseason and even brought in his former college teammate Jaylen Waddle in the first round of the NFL Draft. DeVante Parker is the top pass catcher returning to the roster, and the Dolphins added Will Fuller V this offseason, though he will miss Week 1 with a suspension. Miami figures to have a talented tight end room with Mike Gesicki returning, and they added Hunter Long in the third round of the NFL Draft this spring. A lack of options should not be an excuse for Tagovailoa in 2021.

The combination of Tagovailoa and Fitzpatrick threw for 24 touchdowns in the 2020 season, but we’ll go after the under here. It seems more likely the Dolphins will run the ball more often near the goal line with Myles Gaskin and the addition of Malcolm Brown. Head coach Brian Flores said Brown will be utilized as the team’s short-yardage back. Brown isn’t making a ton of money, but Flores must be confident in Brown’s ability at the goal line by making a free agent signing at the running back position.
