The Philadelphia Eagles will enter a new era with Jalen Hurts at the quarterback position. He played in 15 games as a rookie last season but was behind Carson Wentz for most of the season. With Wentz in Indianapolis, this is Hurts’ team, and he has an opportunity to take control and prove himself as the future quarterback of this franchise. We saw mixed results in 2020, which can be expected from any rookie, but this will be a crucial year in the development of Hurts, who was a second round pick in the 2019 draft.

DeVonta Smith is a rookie, Jalen Reagor played just one season, and Travis Fulgham is headed into Year 3. As a team, the Eagles threw for 3,728 yards last year, but we’re going with the under even with an extra regular season game.

The Eagles have a fantastic tight end combination with Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz, and even Richard Rodgers caught two touchdowns last season. This tight end didn’t see the end zone too much in 2020, but that should change with Hurts under center. All he needs to do is throw a little more than 1.2 touchdowns per game on average to reach this touchdown total, and we’re pretty confident he reaches that number.
655.5 rushing yards (Over -115, Under -115)
Our pick: Under
Jalen Hurts should run the ball a ton because it’s the thing he does best at the quarterback position. He carried the ball 63 times for 354 yards in 2020 and while the numbers are impressive, 655.5 is a significant number. One issue about taking the over in this spot is how well Hurts can protect himself. He will be much more exposed to hits as a rusher and for that reason, we’re taking the under.

Our pick: Under
Jalen Hurts should find the end zone plenty of times this season, and he rushed for three touchdowns in 2020. The Eagles should do everything they can to keep Hurts healthy, which makes it more likely they will use a running back at the goal line, leading to less rushing scores for Hurts. We’re taking the under.
