The first day of August is here and as the MLB enters the dog days of summer, we’ll be treated to a Sunday afternoon slate full of intriguing matchups to dive into.

Sometimes with a plus-matchup on the MLB game slate, we get an opportunity to slot multiple players from the same team into our DFS lineups. You can learn more about MLB DFS strategy, including team stacks, here.

Here, we’ll break down three of the best team stacks for the MLB slate on Sunday, August 1st.

Cardinals vs. Twins, 2:15 p.m. ET

Nolan Arenado ($5,700)
Paul Goldschmidt ($5,500)
Tommy Edman ($3,100)

The weekend interleague series between the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals have been a mixed bag for both teams with the Cards prevailing 5-1 in the opener on Friday before the Twins turned around and hammered their national league foes 8-1 on Saturday.

Today, the STL lineup has a chance to vault the team over .500 when running up against Michael Pineda, who is just 2-3 with a 5.08 ERA in his last seven starts. Pineda hasn’t gone beyond six innings for the Twins during that stretch, presenting an opportunity for Nolan Arenado (8.0 FPPG) and company to chase him from the game early on Sunday.

Mariners vs. Rangers, 2:35 p.m. ET

Mitch Haniger ($5,600)
Kyle Seager ($4,600)
J.P. Crawford ($4,600)

Both starting pitchers in today’s AL West matchup between the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers have shown vulnerabilities this season but the edge here goes to Seattle’s Marco Gonzales, who has picked up ‘W’s in his previous two starts.

Texas SP Mike Foltynewicz, meanwhile, has surrendered 22 earned runs in his last four starts, giving ample opportunity for the Mariner bats to get active. Mitch Haniger (8.5 FPPG) and Kyle Seager (7.3 FPPG) have combined for 19 hits, eight home runs, and 17 RBI over the last 10 games and while J.P. Crawford has struggled at the plate during that same stretch, he has homered twice off Foltynewicz this season.

Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks, 4:10 p.m. ET

Max Muncy ($5,500)
Chris Taylor ($5,200)
Will Smith ($4,700)

The last time Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Caleb Smith stepped on the mound against the Los Angeles Dodgers, it was disaster. The 29-year-old veteran lasted just one inning on July 10, being shelled for nine earned runs right out the gate. While unlikely to replicate that this afternoon, the powerful L.A. lineup has the chance to chase Smith from the game again with Muncy (9.4 FPPG), Taylor (9.0 FPPG), and Smith (9.7 FP average over the last 10 games) all raking as of late.
