The Wizards fell short in the first round against the No. 1 seed Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Washington finished with a 34-38 record, which was tied for the eighth best record in the East, but they ended their regular season playing at a very high level to get in that position. They lost to the Boston Celtics in their first play-in game but rebounded by scoring 142 points against the Indiana Pacers to advance to the playoffs. Washington saw a quick exit in Round 1 against Philadelphia.
The Wizards have a very interesting offseason ahead of them as they look to what is the future of the franchise. Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal were the team’s top two scorers, and both have been rumored in potential trade talks.
Washington Wizards 2021 NBA Draft picks
No. 15, first round: Corey Kispert, G/F, Gonzaga
No. 22, first round (via LAL): Isaiah Todd, PF, G-League Ignite
Fantasy basketball outlook
Corey Kispert — Kispert is coming off a great senior year at Gonzaga where he averaged 18.6 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He shot an impressive 52.9% from the floor and 44% from downtown, bringing some lethal shooting to a team who just traded away their second-highest scorer in Russell Westbrook. The Wizards need some production from the wing, and that’s exactly what Kispert will bring to the table. Expect him to put up some numbers in fantasy, given that he sees regular playing time throughout next season.
