The Warriors selected G League Ignite PF Jonathan Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. The Warriors then selected Arkansas G Moses Moody with the No. 14 pick.
After five straight NBA Finals appearances — and three titles — the Warriors hit rock bottom in 2019-20 finishing dead last in the Western Conference. This last season saw a big improvement as they finished 8th with a record of 39-33, good enough to grab a spot in the play-in tournament. They went on to lose to the Lakers in their first play-in game, then lost to the Grizzlies in the second game, giving the Grizz the official 8th seed in the Western Conference as Golden State’s season came to a close. The Warriors will carry some big names into next season, including Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson. Of course, Thompson has been injured since June of 2019 when he tore his ACL, followed by an Achilles tear in November of 2020 keeping him out for a second-straight season.
With those three stars all on the wrong side of 30, Golden State will look to add some younger talent to their roster and make a big playoff push in the 2021-22 season. Their two first-round draft picks this year should be a huge help in getting there.

Fantasy basketball outlook
Jonathan Kuminga — This is a risk/reward pick in my eyes. Kuminga goes to a great environment on the Warriors with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Does he fit into the offense? We’ll see. The Dubs have gotten by with high-powered offenses with plenty of spacing. If Kuminga can’t develop a shot, he won’t last long with Golden State. If Kuminga does stick and fits in at forward, he’d have some fantasy basketball value. In keeper leagues, he’s someone to avoid early on, go with the guards.
Moses Moody — The 6’5” guard averaged 16.8 points and 5.8 rebound in his freshman year at Arkansas, and has to be thrilled with going 14th to the Warriors. He should be able to fit in well, finding opportunities to score when they present themselves. He shot 35.8% percent last season from three-point range while shooting 42.7% overall from the floor. He’s not the greatest ball handler and won’t be expected to be an elite level scorer especially in his first year, but he’ll give some depth to Golden State and should pop up on the fantasy radar down the stretch.
