Odds to win gold medal in softball at 2020 Tokyo Olympics

The Americans will be favored to take home their first gold medal since 2004, and their last until at least 2028.

Team United States players celebrate with teammate Kelsey Stewart after she hit a walk-off home run to win the game 2-1 against Team Japan during softball opening round on day three of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games at Yokohama Baseball Stadium on July 26, 2021 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. After a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 7th inning on Monday morning, the United States softball team will once again face Japan in the gold medal game on Tuesday from Yokohama Baseball Stadium in Tokyo.

The 2-1 win for the USA came via a leadoff solo shot from Kelsey Stewart, which ensured the Americans will be the home team and bat last in the gold medal game.

The USA used all three pitchers against Japan, with Ally Carda going 5.1 innings, Monica Abbott getting one inning of work, and Cat Osterman getting two outs in relief of Carda.

But with a Category 3 typhoon named Nepartak heading for Tokyo today, the ability to get both the bronze and gold medal games in is in question. If for some reason the game is unable to be played, the United States would be declared the gold medalist because of their 5-0 record in pool play. Japan sits at 4-1 with their only loss coming to the USA on Monday.

Here are the odds to win the softball gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics from DraftKings Sportsbook:
