The New Orleans Saints will enter Year 1 in the post-Drew Brees era, and it will be interesting to see what this offense will look like heading into 2021. The franchise is coming off a season in which they went 12-4 and won the NFC South division. They took down the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card round before ending their year with a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional round.
The Saints were relatively quiet during the offseason, but the quarterback position is going to be one of the most interesting storylines to follow during training camp. It will be strange watching New Orleans take the field without Brees under center, but the Saints have two players with a decent amount of NFL experience.
New Orleans Saints Super Bowl 56 odds: +2800
The quarterback battle between Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill is going to be one to watch throughout the preseason, and it will be very interesting who ends up on top. With the difference in skillsets between the two, it is certainly possible both will see the field at points during the season. Sean Payton is one of the best offensive minds in the sport, so the Saints should be very creative on that side of the ball.
Defensively, the Saints will need to replace quite a bit from last year’s team. They will move on without defensive tackles Sheldon Rankins, Malcom Brown, defensive end Trey Hendrickson and cornerback Janoris Jenkins. New Orleans had one of the best defenses in the NFL last season so if they keep that level of production, this should be a team capable of a playoff run.
DraftKings Sportsbook has the Saints inside the top 10 in Super Bowl odds, so they have a realistic shot to make it happen. It is difficult to handicap what the offense will look like with a drastic change to the quarterback position, but Payton can be trusted in dealing with quarterbacks and putting offensive players in the right spots. New Orleans is a bit of a wild card heading into the season, and they could have value with this number if they pick the right guy at quarterback.
