Jets Super Bowl odds: What New York needs to do to win Super Bowl 56

The Jets have +10000 odds to win Super Bowl 56 in February 2022. We break down what has to happen for New Yorkto take home the Lombardi Trophy.

NFL: New York Jets OTA John Jones-USA TODAY Sports

Placing a bet on the New York Jets to win Super Bowl 56 is an extremely bold decision, especially considering their horrendous 2020 campaign.

The Jets went 2-14 last season and played musical chairs with the quarterback position all year. This offseason, they shipped off Sam Darnold to Carolina and drafted BYU QB Zach Wilson in the first round. They also canned head coach Adam Gase and hired Robert Saleh — the former DC of the San Francisco 49ers — to replace him. So there’s hope in NYC, but hope enough to win the Super Bowl?

New York Jets Super Bowl 56 odds: +15000

New York has the third-worst odds to win the Super Bowl this season, which means it probably won’t happen. Still, even if you throw a couple of bucks on the improbable, you could wind up very rich if everything goes your way.

Wilson will probably be tasked with leading the Jets straight away, with only Mike White and James Morgan behind him. Both of them have zero NFL starting experience. So if Wilson goes down with an injury, it could get ugly fast for New York.

Outside of the QB room, the Jets went into this offseason hoping to change virtually everything about the team. They bolstered their offensive and defensive lines by signing defensive end Carl Lawson and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins, and they also took an offensive guard in the first round of the NFL Draft as well.

Still, the pass defense which struggled last year hasn’t had much of an influx of talent. They could be hard-pressed to stop the pass against any opposing QB this season. The team will be relying on Saleh and new defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich to help turn this unit around.
