Moses Moody 2021 NBA Draft prospect profile

The 2021 NBA draft will take place Thursday, July 29 with the Detroit Pistons holding the No. 1 pick. The Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic round out the top five selections.

We take a look at some of the prospects available in this draft, gauge their strengths, weaknesses, NBA comparisons and best landing spot within the player’s projected draft range. Here’s a breakdown for Arkansas forward Moses Moody.

Strengths

Moody is an athletic forward who can shoot the triple well. He’s an aggressive scorer, but can fit into any role due to his shooting. His biggest asset is his defense, which will help Moody immediately get on the floor in the NBA. The development curve looks great at 19.

Weaknesses

Moody doesn’t generate many fouls when he attacks and can settle for bad shots against better defensive looks. He’s also not a great ball-handler, something that will keep him from taking a jump to be a primary scoring option.

Player Comparison

Moody reminds me a lot of Mikal Bridges, who is turning into an excellent 3-and-D player for the Phoenix Suns. Bridges broke out in Game 2 of the NBA Finals and has been a steady starter in Phoenix. There’s no reason Moody cannot also deliver that type of production on a contending team.

Best Landing Spot

Moody is expected to go either at the tail end of the lottery or just outside it. The Golden State Warriors would be a tremendous landing spot if they keep their pick at No. 14, but there’s a high chance a different team is picking there. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies are great fits for Moody’s skillset and can help him develop as an offensive talent.
