Full undercard for Joyce vs. Takam title and eliminator fight

We take a look at what to expect from the full card as Joe Joyce and Carlos Takam for a pair of secondary heavyweight titles and as an eliminator for the WBC title.

The boxing world is going mostly dark this weekend with Olympic boxing just around the corner, but Saturday, July 24 brings an interesting card in London. Heavyweights Joe Joyce and Carlos Takam top a card that features four title fights. The card gets started at 2:15 p.m. ET and is available at FITE.tv.

The four title fights all involve secondary titles, but titles are on the line nonetheless. Working up the card, we’ll see Chris Bourke and James Beech Jr. face off for the WBC International junior featherweight title. Hamzah Sheeraz and Ezequiel Gurria will meet for the WBO European junior middleweight title. The penultimate fight of the day will feature Chris Jenkins and Ekow Essuman battling for the Commonwealth welterweight title and the British welterweight title.

The main event is for Joyce’s WBC Silver and WBO International belts. However, it is also a WBC eliminator. Joyce is 12-0 with 11 KOs and was slated to fight Oleksandr Uryk who was a mandatory challenger for the heavyweight title. That did not happen after Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua did not pan out and Usyk signed to fight Joshua.

Takam has stepped in with a 39-5-1 record. He is coming off four straight wins after losing consecutive fights to Anthony Joshua and Dereck Chisora via 10th and 8th round TKOs, respectively. Joyce is a -1000 favorite to win at DraftKings Sportsbook while Takam is a +600 underdog.
