Qatar’s Gold Cup debut has been productive for the 2022 World Cup hosts, as it went unbeaten in all three of group stage matches — logging a 4-0 win over Grenada, a 2-0 win over Honduras while drawing with Panama 3-3. Qatar finished at the top of Group D, one point ahead of Honduras. El Salvador didn’t fare quite as well, while it grabbed back-to-back 2-0 wins over Guatemala and Trinidad & Tobago, but lost the third match 1-0 to Mexico. Qatar has impressed in its first-ever Gold Cup appearance, blazing through the group stage and tossing Honduras aside like it wasn’t much of a problem in the process. Three of Qatar’s players are in the top five scorers of the tournament, as Abdulaziz Hatem, Akram Afif, and Almoez Ali all have two goals under their belt. We also have the advantage of a preview in the form of a friendly played between these two sides on July 4. That match saw Qatar receive a red card in the 20th minute, but still came out on top 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Almoez Ali. I think Qatar to win in 90 is the best bet here, as it looks to be enough to overpower El Salvador from the start.
