Breaking down the cut line for the 2021 3M Open

FINAL UPDATE: The cut settled at -2.

The PGA Tour has teed off the second round of the 2021 3M Open on Friday and half the field is on the course. The leaderboard was pretty jammed up coming out of Thursday’s first round. Jhonattan Vegas, Roger Sloan, Rickie Fowler, and Troy Merritt all shot -7 to open the tournament. They held a one-shot lead over Scott Stallings and Adam Schenk.

The last six golfers are scheduled to tee off at 3:12 p.m. ET. There’s still a long way to go before we find out what the weekend field looks like for the 3M Open.

How is the cut line determined?

The cut line at 36 holes is the top 65 players plus those tied at the end of that group. Some tournaments will have a second cut after day three (54 holes) if that initial group is 78 total players, but this is not one of those tournaments.

What is the cut line for the 2021 3M Open?

4:50 p.m. — The projected cut remains at -2 with everybody teed off.

2:40 p.m. — The projected cut remains at -2 with the second half of the field in the process of teeing off.

The projected cut is -2 as of 10:45 a.m. with half the field still to tee off.

Who is not projected to make the cut?

4:50 p.m. — Sergio Garcia and Chris Kirk are at -1 through 11 and 7, respectively. Emiliano Grillo is at +2 through 12.

2:40 p.m. — Finau is to even through three holes. Garcia is back to +2 and Johnson is up to -2.
