We have 15 games on deck for Friday night’s MLB slate and multiple opportunities come away with a win in DraftKings Baseball DFS.
Sometimes with a plus-matchup on the MLB game slate, we get an opportunity to slot multiple players from the same team into our DFS lineups. You can learn more about MLB DFS strategy, including team stacks, here.
Here, we’ll break down three of the best team stacks for the MLB slate on Friday, July 2nd.
Astros vs. Cleveland, 7:10 p.m. ET
Jose Altuve ($5,800)
Yuli Gurriel ($5,100)
Michael Brantley ($4,100)
The Houston Astros’ bats came alive in the middle innings of their 7-2 series-opening victory over Cleveland on Thursday and they will have an opportunity to do more damage tonight when getting a favorable matchup against rookie lefty Sam Hentges . Hentges has been roughed up since making his debut in April, sporting a 7.32 ERA on the year and giving up four earned runs or more in four different outings. He has failed to go beyond five innings in each of his six starts.
As for the Astros, Altuve set things off on Thursday by blasting a fifth inning grand slam to put them ahead and is a primary option for tonight. First baseman Yuli Gurriel has been consistently getting on base as of late, posting 12 hits and five walks in his last 10 outings. In that same span, Michael Brantley has posted 16 hits and seven runs to up his stock as a great value play for tonight’s festivities against Cleveland.
Angels vs. Orioles, 9:38 p.m. ET
Shohei Ohtani ($5,900)
Jared Walsh ($5,000)
David Fletcher ($3,200)
Back home after a trek out east, Los Angeles Angels’ hitters will have the chance to get the home stand started out on the right foot when facing Orioles starter Keegan Akin, who is 0-4 on the season with a 7.11 ERA and was yanked after giving up six earned runs and two homers in his last outing at Toronto.
That sets up beautifully for MLB home run leader Shohei Ohtani to go yard once again. The phenom blasted three during their series at New York earlier in the week. Rounding out this stack is Jared Walsh, who himself belted two dingers against the Yankees on Wednesday and David Fletcher, a value play out of the leadoff spot who has averaged 8.2 FPPG over the last 10 games.
Red Sox vs. Athletics, 9:40 p.m. ET
J.D. Martinez ($5,000)
Rafael Devers ($5,000)
Xander Bogaerts ($5,000)
The Boston Red Sox completely trashed the Kansas City Royals for a 15-1 thumping on Thursday and are looking to carry some of that momentum with them on their west coast road trip, starting tonight at Oakland.
Of course American League All-Star Game starter Rafael Devers had a field day against KC, going 3-for-5 on Thursday with a homer and five RBI in the win. Fellow All-Star Xander Bogaerts has been smoking hot at the plate, batting .405 in his last 10 games with 15 base knocks and six RBI. J.D. Martinez is also a must have in any lineup, batting .305 on the year and averaging 9.6 FPPG.
At $5,000 each, stacking the Sox trio would be a good play against Oakland starter Frankie Montas, who has given up 16 hits and 12 earned runs in his last three outings.
