The 2021 NBA Draft will be held on Thursday, July 29th at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. We already knew the date of the draft but the location in Brooklyn is new information. Shams also says that in-person invites to prospects for the green room are going out right now.
The 2021 NBA Finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns is heading into Game 5 on Saturday, and the final day for the series and a potential Game 7 would be Thursday, July 22nd, which would be one week before the NBA Draft. The deadline for prospects to remain or pull out of the draft pool has also come and gone a week ago. So we have the field set for the draft.
In the past, we’ve seen the draft take place at Prudential Center in New Jersey and Madison Square Garden. The draft has been held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn every year since 2013, not counting the 2020 draft, which took place during the Covid-19 pandemic and was held at ESPN headquarters virtually in Bristol, Connecticut.
