10:22 p.m. — It’ll be defending champion Pete Alonso against Trey Mancini in the final. Alonso eliminates Juan Soto in the second round to move to the final. 14 percent of all wagers on the event backed Alonso to win while five percent took Mancini. Someone is going to make bettors very rich and very happy.

10:03 p.m. — Trey Mancini has advanced to the final, defeating hometown hero Trevor Story after the Rockies SS managed just 12 home runs. Mancini, who battled colon cancer last season, is now one round away from making the few bettors who backed him in the Derby very happy.

9:40 p.m. — We’re going to a Swing Off between Ohtani and Soto. Three swings each for a spot in the next round!
9:34 p.m. — Ohtani and Soto are going to a tiebreaker after both hit 22 home runs in the round. Each hitter will have one minute to hit as many home runs as possible for the first tiebreaker. If the two are still tied, there will be a “Swing Off” with three swings per hitter.
9:20 p.m. — Juan Soto has broken Trevor Story’s record for longest home run with a 520-foot shot of his own. Check it out!

8:54 p.m. — Story upsets Joey Gallo 20-19 in the first round and moves on. Gallo was heavily favored to win the matchup and was second-favorite to win the Derby, but he doesn’t do enough to beat the hometown star.
8:48 p.m. — Trevor Story hit a 518-foot home run, the longest home run in Derby history in the statcast era. Take a look.

8:35 p.m. — Mancini advances past Olson 24-23 in the first round in what was a great start to the Derby. The Orioles slugger could make the few who backed him very happy by the end of the night if he keeps this up.
8:30 p.m. — Mancini finishes the first round with 24 home runs. He needed to take a break after a rough start early, but concluded the round strong. Matt Olson has a tough task here.
8:15 p.m. — Trey Mancini and Matt Olson are up first. Olson is a potential sleeper pick among bettors while Mancini has the comeback story of the season after battling colon cancer last year.
