The San Diego Padres will go for another victory when they host the Chicago Cubs in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday, June 8th. San Diego won Monday night’s game 9-4 to improve to 37-25, 1.5 games behind the San Francisco Giants in the National League West. With the loss, the Cubs dropped out of first place in the N.L. Central, 0.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers at 33-27.
Dinelson Lamet will pitch for the Padres with a 1-0 record and 2.50 ERA in seven appearances including five starts. The Cubs will start Zach Davies, who has a 2-3 record and 4.94 ERA in 12 starts.
Moneyline pick: Cubs +150
Dinelson’s starts have not gone all that long this season, and he acts more as a reliever despite starting the game on the mound. He has thrown more than three innings just once this season, and it came in a loss to the Cubs his last time out on June 2nd. He allowed a run in four innings in a 6-1 loss. Davies struggled last time out, giving up four runs in 4.1 innings but prior to that, he had given up one or zero earned runs in five of six starts. The Cubs are worth the risk in this spot to even the series.
Player Prop: Fernando Tatis Jr. to record an RBI (+113)
Not many players have batted more runs in than Tatis. In fact, only 15 Major Leaguers can top his tally of 39. Tatis bats cleanup and his odds to score at least a run are -137 and he ranks second with 17 home runs. If he doesn’t bring himself home by going yard, he has a good shot at bringing a teammate in with his power hitting. Davies ranks sixth in walks with 29.
