UPDATE: Chad Johnson was knocked down in the fourth round, but he went the distance in the four-round exhibition fight. Johnson impressed in the first three rounds but it also seemed like if he was fighting a boxer with a little more experience, he could have been dropped earlier. But hey, congrats to Johnson for surviving his boxing debut.
The most anticipated boxing exhibition in history is scheduled for this Sunday as a 50-0 five-time weight class world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes on Youtube celebrity Logan Paul on Sunday, June 6th.
The card is expected to start about 8:00 p.m. ET, with the main event happening about 10:30-11:00 p.m. ET. But that won’t be the only fight on the card, as there’s three other boxing matches scheduled at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Six-time NFL Pro Bowler will be on the undercard in his boxing debut, and he’ll face MMA, bareknuckle, and sweet science journeyman Brian Maxwell. Though it’s technically a four-round exhibition, it’s a chance for Johnson to have some fun if not a full fighting career.
“This is a one-time thing,” Johnson said in the lead-up to the fight. “I’ve done some crazy things in life, and this is one to add and scratch off the bucket list. I’m coming in there to have fun and entertain.” This bout, like the main event, will also be an exhibition without judges or a decision rendered, but with the ability of the referee to stop the contest.
Also the main actual draw on the card, Badou Jack, lost his original opponent in Jean Pascal due to a failed drug test. His replacement is 15-0 Venezuelan Dervin Colina, who is ranked #13 at super middleweight, although this bout will be at the 175 lbs. limit.
