Well, that didn’t take long. Mario Cázares wanted to make life difficult for WBA World super middleweight champ David Morrell, but after some early scuffling, Morrell dropped the challenger in the first round to win by knockout. You can watch Cázares go down at the 34 second mark.

Morrell was a heavy favorite coming into this fight, installed by DraftKings Sportsbook at -2500 to win while Cázares was a +825 underdog. Cázares earned the title fight after beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. last September via sixth-round technical decision.
This was only Morrell’s fifth career fight, but the long-time Cuban amateur continued his winning ways. Cázares got in a low blow early in the first round and Morrell responded with a late hit to the back of the head.
The ref did not issue any warnings and it looked like this might turn into a chippy fight. However, shortly after, Morrell staggered Cázares and quickly followed-up with the knockout blow.
