FOX is offering up some rare Sunday evening boxing on June 27th, with Premier Boxing Champions providing us with a super middleweight title fight. David Morrell will put his WBA World super middleweight championship on the line against Mario Cazares.
Morrell is 4-0 but has already claimed a title after an extensive amateur career in Cuba. Cazares is 12-0 but likely claimed this fight thanks to his last fight in which he stunned Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via sixth round technical decision. Cazares was probably brought into that fight to serve as an easy win on the undercard of a JCC Sr. fight, but it did not pan out.
Now, PBC is looking to strike while the iron is hot with Cazares. He is a huge underdog in this one, installed by DraftKings Sportsbook at +825 to win while Morrell is -2500. Cazares earned an opportunity with his upset of JCC Jr., but oddsmakers don’t think he does much with it.
The event starts at 6p.m. in Minneapolis and runs until 10 p.m. The undercard will air on FS1 from 6-8 p.m. and the main card will air on FOX from 8-10 p.m. The whole thing will be available via live stream at FOX.com/live and through the Bally Sports app.
Two fights on the rest of the card are getting odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. You can bet on Omar Juarez vs. All Rivera and Efetobor Apochi vs. Brandon Glanton. Juarez-Rivera is a super lighweight matchup featuring unbeaten Juarez looking to take another step up in competition. He’s a -3335 favorite while Rivera is a +900 underdog.
The penultimate fight of the main card is a cruiserweight battle between Apochi and Glanton. Both are undefeated, with Apochi sitting at 11-0 and Glanton at 13-0. Apochi is a -455 favorite while Glanton is a +300 underdog.
Here’s the full card for Sunday’s FS1/FOX show.
