Cade Cunningham heavy favorite to go No. 1 overall to Piston in 2021 NBA Draft

We’ve got odds on DraftKings Sportsbook to go first overall in the NBA Draft this year and it’s a landslide in favor of the OK State guard.

The 2021 NBA Draft is set for late July and we’ve got the full draft order after the Detroit Pistons won the lottery on Tuesday. The Pistons beat out the Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic, each with a 14 percent chance to land the first pick in the draft. So now that the Pistons know where they’re selecting, they can set their sights to the prospects. Their search for who to select may not last very long. There’s an overwhelming favorite to be selected No. 1 overall and it’s OK State G Cade Cunningham. Let’s check out the full list of odds to go first overall on DraftKings Sportsbook.

So there’s really no reason to think the Pistons will go in any other direction than Cunningham. He’s far-and-away the best overall prospect in this draft class and fills a need in Detroit. The Pistons don’t have any superstar caliber talent, though they do have a couple young, promising players in Saddiq Bey, Killian Hayes, Isaiah Stewart and Sekou Doumbouya. Adding Cunningham gives them a potential All-Star in a few seasons in the mold of a position-less point guard, similar to Luka Doncic.

If there’s any value in this market it’s probably in Mobley out of USC. He seems like the only prospect you could maybe make a case for over Cunningham (maybe, I stress this, maybe). He’s 15/1 to go No. 1 overall and you’d think he’d a shoe-in to go to the Rockets at No. 2 overall. There’s also the thought that the Piston overthink this decision and make the wrong one, which we’ve seen from incompetent front offices in the past. Mobley wouldn’t be a bad choice, but the Pistons have front court bodies in Mason Plumlee, Jerami Grant, Stewart and Doumbouya.
