The Bucks went through the Brooklyn Nets to reach the conference finals, albeit Brooklyn was struggling with Kyrie Irving out and James Harden hobbling. The Nets were the favorites to win the title, but Milwaukee took them out in Game 7. The Bucks have been here before and they’ll be backed against the upstart Hawks in Game 1.
The Hawks stunned the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 to reach the conference finals for the first time since 2014-15. Interim head coach Nate McMillan has worked wonders with this squad, given Atlanta was 14-20 near the halfway point of the season. Trae Young is emerging as a star and is getting contributions from the supporting cast. The Hawks won’t be favored, but they’re a feisty group playing with house money. Atlanta will look to spring a surprise here as well.
