The 2021 NBA Draft Lottery is set for 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 22nd and we’re going to see who is awarded the No. 1 overall pick. Aside from that, we’re also going to see how a few trades will work out for a few teams. There are two notable trades involving lottery picks in 2021 and both have protections that need to be considered. Here we’ll go over both those trades and what could shake out during the lottery.

Golden State Warriors-Minnesota Timberwolves

Update: The Warriors will select No. 7 overall after the Timberwolves didn’t jump up into the top 3 in the lottery.

The Warriors acquired Andrew Wiggins and a top-3 protected first-round pick in 2021 for D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman.

The Warriors receive the pick if it lands outside the top 3, otherwise Minnesota retains the rights to the pick.

Chicago Bulls-Orlando Magic

Update: The Magic will select No. 8 overall after the Bulls didn’t jump up into the top 4 in the lottery.

The Bulls acquired Nikola Vucevic and Al-Farouq Aminu from the Magic in exchange for Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr. and two first-round picks in 2021 and 2023.

The Magic receive the pick if it lands outside the top 4, otherwise the Bulls retain the rights to the pick.
