The 2021 NBA Draft Lottery took place at 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 22nd to decide the front half of the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. The Minnesota Timberwolves were awarded the No. 7 pick in the first round of the draft following the lottery draw. The Warriors own the rights to the Timberwolves first-round pick in the draft following the D’Angelo Russell trade. The T-Wolves had the third-best odds to win the No. 1 pick at 9 percent. Here we’re going to take a look at where the Warriors are drafting and who they should look to take.
Who should the Golden State Warriors take with the No. 7 pick?
The Dubs got lucky the T-Wolves didn’t jump up and will get another high lottery pick. Last year, the Warriors went with C James Wiseman at No. 2 overall in the draft. This time around, we should see them look to add depth to the back court or add a wing to complement Draymond Green on defense. Klay Thompson is set to return and Wiseman should be 100 percent, so the Dubs can afford to take some time with this pick. Scottie Barnes makes a lot of sense out of Florida State. He’s an energy guy who can bring a lot of toughness while also filling a need on the wing. Jalen Suggs or Davion Mitchell wouldn’t be bad options either.
