The final WWE pay-per-view of the Thunderdome era is set for Sunday as Hell in a Cell will serve as the final stopping point before the company goes back to touring in front of live crowds next month.
The event is set to stream live on Peacock at 7 p.m. ET. New subscribers can pay $5 per month for its regular service, and $10 per month for its premium service with no ads.
Right now we’ve got a six-match card, with the final three bouts to be contested inside the largest gimmick in the WWE warehouse. The Cell is where the unforgettable happens, and sometimes it’s just a bad match where it’s harder to see for the fans in attendance because of the size of the enclosure.
But that won’t be a problem at Thunderdome, aka the Yuengling Center on the campus of the University of South Florida. It was also home to the basketball career of new WWE Superstar Omos, and read this fantastic piece about his journey if you haven’t yet.
In the WWE Championship match, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre do battle once again in two-thirds of a rematch from WrestleMania. But this time the stipulation is that if McIntyre loses, he won’t get another shot at Lashley’s title. We got us a hoss fight, and these two are terrific athletes that can make use of the contraption for what should be a fun match.
On the women’s side, Rhea Ripley’s rocket will be tested against The Queen Charlotte Flair inside Satan’s Structure. While Ripley finally got her Wrestlemania Moment in front of a crowd in Raymond James Stadium in April, it came with the GOAT women’s wrestler on the sidelines. Now they’ll hash it out in the cell, where Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks in 2016 as one of the major mileposts of the women’s revolution.
And in a match where one of the best athletes in WWE is absolutely getting her hair stuck in part of The Cell, Bianca Belair defends the Smackdown Women’s Championship against Bayley. It’s a rematch of one of the more fun bouts at Mania, but this feud has dragged on a bit longer than necessary. With all the talent on the women’s roster, we can’t find a new opponent for the champ and ‘The EST?”
Also to open the show, even though it’s not in The Cell, Kevin Owens will wrestle Sami Zayn. Expect the roof to come of The Yuengling, as this might be the best pairing of opponents of the 21st Century. It is always can’t-miss sports entertainment.
