Moneyline pick, best player prop for Padres vs. Mets on Sunday

The San Diego Padres and New York Mets will face off in a National League matchup on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Both sides have top-three scoring defenses, so all signs point to this game being low-scoring. We’ve gone over the best betting options at DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the first pitch. Moneyline pick: Padres -134

San Diego and New York are elite defensively but the Padres are significantly better at the plate. The Mets rank last in hits and runs and are starting Joey Lucchesi, who’s struggled all year on the mound. Lucchesi is 1-4 with a 5.79 ERA and has only made it to four innings once in 2021. New York’s chances of winning aren’t high with arguably its worst rotation piece drawing a start, so I’ll roll with the visitors.

Player Prop: Fernando Tatis Jr. O.5 runs (+105)

Tatis hasn’t been very consistent at the plate lately but has been solid against New York this season. He’s batting .272 against the Mets this year and remains one of MLB’s premier power hitters. There might not be a surplus of scoring in this matchup, but the most dangerous batter on both sides is most likely to cross home plate. His .997 OPS ranks fourth in MLB.
