Euro 2021 picks: Best bets heading into the group stage

Soccer is usually a fairly cut and dry affair when it comes to results. The team with the best talent, on most occasions, is the best bet to win. At Euro 2021, 24 teams will be vying for the title as the continent’s best international unit. The usual suspects are in play with reigning World Cup champions France and 2016 Euro holders Portugal among them. Best bet: Turkey top 2 in group stage (+130)

Switzerland is favored to be in the top two ahead of Turkey, but the Euro qualifying stage would suggest otherwise. Italy should win the group, but Turkey is performing better as a unit entering the competition. Turkey to finish top 2 at +130 is good value. Bettors can also look at Poland and Ukraine in their respective groups to finish top 2. Those teams are getting + value after being projected to finish third, but have the experience and talent to exceed that projection.

Best bet: Harry Kane top goalscorer (+700)

Romelu Lukaku may be the favorite according to DraftKings Sportsbook, but Kane is in a better position to deliver on this bet. The way England’s attacking play is set up, Kane will have more opportunities than most strikers. He is also arguably the most talented player in attack and should find the back of the net more than any other player.

Best bet: Belgium to win Euro 2020 (+750)

Italy (+800) and Netherlands (+1500) also are good value in this category for one simple reason; they’re likely to win their group and have an easier path to the title. France has a rough group stage with Germany and Portugal and England has historically struggled in international competitions. Belgium is the most talented group of the three offering the best value and has the most at stake in this tournament.
