Will the New Orleans Saints go over or under their win total in 2021?

New Orleans will enter a new era for the franchise, but the Saints have a decent shot at reaching their win total in 2021.

The New Orleans Saints are entering into a new era with their franchise as they will Drew Brees will spend the next NFL season off the field and in the broadcast booth. New Orleans finished 2020 with a 12-4 record for first place in the NFC South, but their season ended in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

We’ll take a look at the latest DraftKings Sportsbook lines and predict if the Saints can beat their 2021 win total. The odds below are as of May 24, 2021.

NFC South win totals

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 11.5 (Over -125, Under +103)
New Orleans Saints 9 (Over +103, Under -125)
Carolina Panthers 7.5 (Over +110, Under -134)
Atlanta Falcons 7.5 (Over -137, Under +113)

Notable offseason moves

Jameis Winston re-signed to be in competition for the starting quarterback job. Additionally, the Saints re-signed cornerback P.J. Williams and put the franchise tag on safety Marcus Williams.

The Saints did not re-sign edge rusher Trey Hendrickson as one of the top free agents on the market. New Orleans lost cornerback Janoris Jenkins to free agency, and the Saints moved on from wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. Tight ends Jared Cook and Josh Hill also signed elsewhere, as did defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins.

New Orleans went heavy on the defensive side of the ball in the draft with their first three picks, highlighted by former Houston Cougars defensive end Payton Turner.

New Orleans Saints prediction: OVER 9

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will receive plenty of attention in this division, but the Saints should not be overlooked. New Orleans won 12 games last season in a year in which Brees played nowhere near the same level he had been at previous years, so the drop off at quarterback shouldn’t be as drastic as many might think. The Saints will go into training camp with a QB competition between Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill.

This will not be an easy task considering how much the Saints have lost this offseason, but Sean Payton is one of the elite minds in the NFL, and he deserves the benefit of the doubt as the head coach.
