The Ohio State Buckeyes are the favorite to make it five-straight Big Ten championships according to the oddsmakers just four months away from the start of the 2021 NCAA Football season.
OSU is a -110 favorite despite the loss of Justin Fields, Pete Werner, and eight other Buckeyes to the NFL Draft. But with athletes all over the field including wide receiver Chris Olave, running back Master Teague, and cornerback Sevyn Banks, they have reloaded under Ryan Day more than rebuilt.
Perennial second-place on Thanksgiving Weekend Michigan is also tied for second choice at +700. Cade McNamara looks to be the leader in the quarterback competition after spring practice, and this is a deeper Michigan team that those of the recent past. But of course head coach and UM alum Jim Harbaugh is still 0-6 versus That Team Down South, and there’s no reasonable path to the championship game that doesn’t go through the Buckeyes in 2021.
The other +700 team is Penn State, who look to rebuild after a disappointing short season last year. New offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich looks to get as much as possible out of redshirt junior quarterback Sean Clifford. The work he did with Sam Ehlinger was strong in just one year at Texas, averaging 42.7 points per game before head coach Tom Herman got fired. There are no seniors for the Nittany Lions first-string offense as of now, and two superstar freshmen wide receivers in Parker Washington and KeAndre Lambert-Smith might be tasked with carrying the load on the outside.
