It was a banner day for Kyle Larson and Team Hendrick at the 2021 Coca-Cola 600. Larson dominated the race — leading 327 of the 400 laps — and the four Hendrick drivers all finished in the top five at the Memorial Day weekend race.
Larson claimed the pole position in qualifying the day before and then took home all three stages before finishing first for the final stage and overall victory. Larson entered the week +850 to win the race at DraftKings Sportsbook but by race day had closed as the favorite at +400. He was the most popular bet of the week with 16% of the handle and 10% of the bets.
Chase Elliott (+550) and William Byron (+1200) gave Larson the most trouble, leading 22 and 19 laps, respectively, but this was the Larson show. Larson guaranteed himself a spot in the season-ending playoff with the victory. Larson is currently second in the points race, tied with William Byron 76 points back of Denny Hamlin.
Hendrick teammates Larson and Elliott finished 1-2 and then William Byron and Alex Bowman finished fourth and fifth to complete the dominant for Hendrick Motorsports. Larson’s win gave owner Richard Hendrick a record 269th victory for his team.
