The Milwaukee Brewers and Washington Nationals wrap up a three-game set while hoping to avoid some wet weather. The first game of the series on Friday was postponed due to rain and the two teams played a doubleheader on Saturday. The Brewers claimed both games and look to complete the sweep on Sunday.
It’s damp in DC this weekend and Sunday’s game stands a decent chance of hitting a rain delay. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET and there’s a chance of showers around 3 p.m. which could slow things down. Even if it doesn’t rain, the forecast bodes well for a low scoring game. Temperatures are expected to be in the low-to-mid 50s with wind coming in at 10 miles per hour with gusts up to 20 mph.
Brewers vs. Nationals best bet: Under 6.5 runs (-117)
In normal weather, I’d have jumped on the Max Scherzer over for strikeouts given the Brewers proclivity for swinging and missing. But the potential for a rain delay could result in a short day for Scherzer and I’m not comfortable risking that. But with Scherzer and Brandon Woodruff both pitching extremely well this season and the weather looking inclement for hitters, I’ll take my chances on the under. If this does get into the bullpens, the Brewers in particular are a problem. But let’s go for getting an official game in with limited scoring.
