The Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning will face off in the second round of the 2021 NHL Playoffs to determine the Central division representative in the Stanley Cup Semifinals. The NHL has not finalized the full series schedule while the last of the first round finishes up, but did announce that Game 1 will take place on Sunday, May 30. UPDATE: The NHL has updated the second round schedule.
The Hurricanes held off a game Predators squad in the first round to advance. The two teams split their home games through Game 4 before Carolina ran off two straight to close out the series. The Lightning jumped on top of the Panthers on the road in the first two games, and closed it out with alternating losses and wins.
Although Carolina has home ice advantage, Tampa Bay is favored in this series, installed by DraftKings Sportsbook at -139 to win the series while Carolina is +114.
