Julio Jones sweepstakes: Updated odds

Where will one of the best wide receivers in the league end up next season?

Ross Tucker Football Podcast | Julio Jones Trade Leaks and NFL Mental Counselors

Julio Jones remains on the trade block and the Atlanta Falcons have reportedly been getting offers for the star receiver, including one team willing to give up a first-round pick. After Jones told Shannon Sharpe on FS1’s Undisputed he was “out” of Atlanta, reports surfaced of him demanding a trade months ago.

Despite the Falcons featuring one of the league’s premier passing offenses in recent seasons, the team has only made the playoffs once after making a Super Bowl run in 2016. At 32, it appears Jones wants to spend his remaining years with a team capable of consistently contending. Here’s a look at the updated odds for the receiver’s next team over at DraftKings Sportsbook (available in Michigan, Illinois, Colorado).

The New England Patriots appear to be the favorite after the latest shift in odds, but the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams aren’t far behind. Los Angeles’ line movement is stunning, going from +6600 down to +500. The Falcons are still in the running, but have essentially said they’re going to deal Jones unless something changes.

The Patriots have a clear need at receiver and can offer a first-round pick Atlanta reportedly wants in return. Bill Belichick spent a of money upgrading the team’s skill positions, but wasn’t able to add a top talent at receiver. Jones would qualify as such, but the Patriots didn’t exactly look like a title contender last season. The Rams don’t have a first-round pick in 2022, although they fit the bill of a contending team. The Titans have a need at receiver after Corey Davis’ departure, but Jones might not enjoy the idea of playing with an offense centered around Derrick Henry running the ball. If Tennessee gives up the most in return, he won’t have a choice.

As the most recents odds show, there’s no clear cut contender to land Jones. The Falcons are asking for a substantial price and also reportedly prefer sending him to an AFC team over an NFC one. Based on these two parameters, the Patriots and Titans seem to be the most logical landing spots for one of the game’s top receivers.
