Celtics-Nets Game 3 update — Tatum is going to be available to play in Game 3 vs. the Nets, the team confirmed Thursday evening. Tatum had to leave Game 2 after being poked in the eye and was unable to return. His status was never really in question considering Boston was blown out in Game 2.
Update: So Tatum came back to the bench briefly in the third quarter after being forced to the locker room. He was then sent back to the locker room and was ruled out for the remainder of Game 2 vs. the Nets. Brooklyn has built up a sizable lead heading into the fourth quarter and there’s really no reason for Tatum to come back into this one.
Boston Celtics F Jayson Tatum was forced to go to the locker room in the third quarter of Game 2 vs. the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night after being poked in the eye. Tatum appeared to take a shot to the face from Nets F Kevin Durant and was holding his eye. The Celtics All-Star had to go to the locker room shortly after. Here’s a look at Tatum holding his face in pain.

The Nets are almost up by 30 points in the third quarter, so it looks like this game is basically over. Tatum was struggling before leaving, going 3-of-12 from the floor with 9 points. Boston is having a miserable shooting night overall, down around 35 percent from the field and 20 percent from 3-point range. It appears Brooklyn will take a 2-0 lead in the series pending a miracle.
