UPDATE: As of race day, Scott Dixon has improved to +325 to win, and is a sizable favorite over Colton Herta (+850). DraftKings Sportsbook published betting splits for the race and Dixon leads the way with 15% of handle and 10% of bets. He’s followed by Alexander Rossi (+1300) who is getting 10% and 9%, respectively. Ed Carpenter (+2200) follows at 7% of each, then Herta at 7% and 6%, and defending champ Takuma Sato (+1800) with 6% and 4%.
The Indianapolis 500 is back to normal in 2021! A year removed from getting bumped to August due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race is back to running Memorial Day weekend. The green flag drops at 12:45 p.m. ET and will air on NBC, NBC Sports Network, and stream on Peacock Premium.
The starting lineup is set for the race, having been settled during qualifying this past Sunday. Scott Dixon claimed the pole and will be joined on the front row by Colton Herta and Rinus VeeKay. They’ll be followed on the second row by Ed Carpenter, Tony Kanaan, and Alex Palou.
Dixon is the favorite in this year’s race, installed by DraftKings Sportsbook at +350. He won the race in 2008 and finished second last year after leading a race-high 111 laps. He has eight top-five finishes at the Indy 500 dating back to 2003. He’s followed by Colton Herta (+700), Patricio O’Ward (+1000), and Josef Newgarden, Alex Palou, and Alexander Rossi (all at +1400). Last year’s champ, Takuma Sato, is installed at +2000 and will be starting on the 5th row.
