The NL East is a jumble of mediocrity two months into the season. On Monday, two of the signature teams open up a three-game set in search of a .500 record on the season as the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins will be live from loanDepot Park (sic) in Little Havana.
Let’s make some money on two teams chasing the Mets for first place.
Phillies vs. Marlins, 6:40 p.m. ET, ESPN+
Moneyline pick: Phillies +107
Zach Elfin seems to be starting to settle in a bit, with six K’s and zero walks his last outing over 6 IP against these same Marlins last week. He was the loser last Wednesday, but the bats are coming around for the Phillies, who beat the Red Sox 6-3 yesterday. We’ll take the value on the road.
Player Prop: Rhys Hoskins over 0.5 hits -167
This one seems pretty safe. Hoskins was 2-4 off Trevor Rogers last week, and has a knock in each of his last two games. He’s a streaky hitter, but when he’s seeing grapefruits he can drive the ball effectively into gaps.
