We’re through the first weekend in the 2021 NBA Playoffs and each of the first-round series have played at least one game. We saw a few upsets on Saturday with the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers taking down the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets, respectively. It appears the 2021 playoffs may actually offer up a bit of parity in the NBA, which isn’t usually the case if we look back at past results. Anyway, here we’ll give you an updated look at the 2021 NBA Playoff bracket and where each series is at.
Sunday, May 30 update — The biggest news saw Anthony Davis saw a groin injury in the Lakers loss to the Suns that evened the series 2-2. He’s day-to-day but that could swing this series if he misses another game. The Hawks and Nets both rolled to Game 4 wins and are one game from advancing. The Clippers appear back on track with their second straight win to pull even with the Mavericks through four games.
Saturday, May 29 update — The Bucks capped off the sweep of the Heat in the first round and will advance to the second round for another year. Whether or not the Bucks will get past that to get to the East Finals is still to be seen. If the Nets, Hawks and Sixers all win their series, the Bucks will face the Nets in the second round.
Wednesday, May 26 update — The Knicks evened their series against the Hawks with a win at MSG that would make you think the team won a championship. We also saw the Jazz bounce back and look like a No. 1 seed with a 141-129 win over the Grizz on Wednesday night to make it 1-1. The Sixers are on their way to sweeping the Wizards to nobodies surprise as well. It was a pretty standard night in the NBA Playoffs.
Monday, May 24 update — The Bucks absolutely bulldozed the Heat, winning 132-98. Giannis Antetokounmpo impressed as usual, but Bryn Forbes was the big surprise performer, scoring 22 in a win that gave Milwaukee a 2-0 series lead. And the Denver Nuggets got back in control of their series with a 128-109 win over the Portland Trailblazers. Nikola Jokic had 38 points and eight rebounds in just 31 minutes of action, and the series is now 1-1 heading to Moda Center in the Rose City.
Sunday, May 23 update — The Grizzlies sprung the biggest upset of the day, beating the Jazz to continue their run from the play-in tournament and take a 1-0 lead. The Lakers were road favorites against the Suns, but Devin Booker dominated in his playoff debut and gave Phoenix a 1-0 lead.
Saturday, May 22 update — Aside from the two upsets, we did have some pretty great basketball over the weekend to start off the postseason. The Bucks and Heat went to OT with Khris Middleton nailing a game-winning 2-pointer to seal the 1-0 lead. The Nets got a bit of a scare from the Celtics, but ultimately Kevin Durant was too much, scoring 32 points to lead Brooklyn to a 1-0 lead.
