The NASCAR Cup Series is back in action on Sunday, May 23rd with the EchoPark Texas Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas. The race starts at 2:30 p.m. ET with qualifying at 11:00, and it will air on FS1. You can watch a live stream on the Bally Sports App and via FOX.com/live.
The race is 68 laps, which is equal to 232 miles at the COTA track. This is the third road course of the 2021 NASCAR season. In February, the Cup Series ran the Busch Clash and the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 on the Daytona Road Course. None of the three races runs the same distance and given the road nature of the course, there’s inconsistency in lap length. Additionally, this is the first time NASCAR has driven at COTA, so we’re left to guesstimate how long this race will last.
There is a comparison that will give us a ballpark figure. The O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 has only run twice, but the first time it was 234.7 miles over 65 laps, with an average speed of 89.39 miles per hour. The winning race time was 2 hours and 37 minutes. Suffice to say, this race should be completed before dinner time on the east coast.
