The No. 7 seed Boston Celtics meet the loaded No. 2 seed Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs after winning the play-in game against the Washington Wizards. Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker will be instrumental for the Celtics to pull of the upset, but Boston is without key starter Jaylen Brown after the small forward suffered a season-ending wrist injury.

Boston Celtics injury report

Nets vs. Celtics Game 1 update — Williams is going to be available to play despite a toe injury for Game 1 vs. the Nets on Saturday night. This is good news for the Celtics, who are 8-point underdogs against the No. 2 seed Brooklyn. Williams should start and we’ll see if the toe holds him back at all.

Update, May 21 - According to Shams Charania, Williams is expected to play in Game 1 vs. the Nets.

Update, May 21 — Williams was unable to practice on Friday leading up to Saturday’s Game 1 vs. the Nets. Time Lord aggravated his toe injury during the play-in tournament win over the Wizards. His status is up in the air for Game 1, per Brad Stevens.

Jaylen Brown, wrist — Brown was a two-way force for the Celtics, averaging 24.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season while routinely defending the opposing team’s top player. Boston would be the underdog regardless of Brown’s health, but the Celtics seemingly lack the firepower necessary to pull off an upset without him.

Robert Williams, toe — The big man is listed as day-to-day and hyperextended his toe in Boston’s win over the Wizards, according to head coach Brad Stevens. It’s unclear whether he’ll play in Game 1, but Williams should eventually be available for Boston in the series.
