The Indianapolis Colts finished the 2020 season 11-5, losing in the Wild Card round 27-24 to the Buffalo Bills. Philip Rivers will always be a footnote in Colts history, as he spent his last season in Indianapolis before retiring. The Colts will replace him with yet another player head coach Frank Reich has coached in the past, Carson Wentz. There is no doubt the Colts have a solid team, but their fate in 2021 will hinge on Wentz coming back from a disastrous 2020 season with the Eagles.

Biggest offseason changes
Rivers’ retirement and then trading for Wentz was by far the biggest change this offseason. Otherwise, retaining T.Y. Hilton and Marlon Mack, who both seemed destined for new teams, were unexpected moves. Tight end Trey Burton left and they should get Parris Campbell back from injury.
Biggest questions for fantasy football
Mack’s season ended early last year due to injury and rookie Jonathan Taylor was able to take over the lead back duties and excel in the second half. Taylor will remain the lead back, but how much will Mack cut into his workload? It’s tough to know how much, but Taylor looked great last year and we shouldn’t be overly concerned, especially in a league where lead backs will usually lose touches no matter who is behind them on the depth chart.
With Hilton back, it doesn’t look like Pittman Jr. is as assured a huge target share like we had hoped. The good news for Pittman is that Hilton also isn’t assured a huge target share after signing a one-year deal. Pittman flashed true WR1 upside last season and he could take a step forward and force the Colts to get him more involved.
As usual, the Colts will spread the ball out and if Campbell, Doyle and Allie-Cox are able to stay healthy, targets are going to be thin across the board.Wentz will be the key to how efficient those targets are. There is no doubt Wentz is in a better situation for protection in Indianapolis than he was in Philadelphia last season, so improvement is expected, but how much improvement is probably the biggest question for the Colts fantasy players this year.
