The 2021 NBA Playoffs get underway on Tuesday, May 18 with the new play-in tournament. The 7-10 seeds in each conference face off to finalize the final two spots in each conference’s eight-team first round. As the playoffs get underway, we’ll be breaking down DraftKings Sportsbook odds for each team to open the tournament and as teams advance through each round.
The Trail Blazers have been seen as a team that’s one piece away from contending for a while, and it swung for the fences ahead of this year’s trade deadline in hopes of getting over the hump. Portland shipped off Gary Trent Jr. for Norman Powell. The newcomer is one of the best third options on offense that any team could ask for and can improve wing defense as well. Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic, CJ McCollum are healthy, so the Trail Blazers are fully equipped to give whoever they face a run for their money.
Trail Blazers odds to win NBA championship, May 17: +5500
Portland’s odds to make the finals are just +2500 and its title odds are +5500. The Blazers haven’t had much success against winning teams and have won 38.2% of their games against teams that are .500 or better. They won’t play a team with a losing record anytime soon given their place in the standings. History suggests that Portland is in for another early exit.
