The Houston Rockets (16-53), already eliminated from playoff contention, will head to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers (39-30) who are still trying to get back into an automatic playoff spot, as they’re just one game behind the sixth-place Dallas Mavericks. The Rockets and Lakers tip off at 10:30p.m. ET at the Staples Center.
Update: LeBron is not expected to return to the lineup vs. the Rockets. Davis is questionable.

While both sides are riddled with injuries, the Rockets are in an incredibly bad spot as they have eight players who are already ruled out for Wednesday’s contest, including Kevin Porter Jr. (ankle), Eric Gordon (groin), Sterling Brown (head), and a slew of others. The Lakers have quite a few players listed as questionable including both Anthony Davis (groin) and LeBron James (ankle). James’ target return date has been tonight for at least the last week, and if he makes it to the floor it he’ll most likely see restricted minutes. Dennis Schroder (health/safety protocols) remains out tonight although he’s expected to make his return shortly, at least in time for the playoffs if not before then.
Even with the injuries, the Lakers are in a tight spot and absolutely need a win to gain some ground on the Mavs, especially when going up against the league’s worst team. The Rockets are just 1-9 in their last 10 with a six-game losing streak. Don’t expect that to change tonight as the Lakers should easily get the comprehensive W at home.
