We’ve got six games on the schedule for Wednesday, May 12th, and there are plenty of big names on the injury report. Here we’ll be monitoring all the latest injury news with some analysis and how to approach the injury for DFS and fantasy basketball.
NBA Injury Report: Wednesday, May 12th
Brooklyn Nets injury report
Update: Irving has been ruled out vs. the Spurs. Harden will play on a minutes restriction.
The Nets have a few big names on the report. James Harden (hamstring) is planning on returning to the lineup tonight vs. the San Antonio Spurs, per Shams. Kyrie Irving suffered a facial contusion in Tuesday’s win over the Chicago Bulls, so his status is uncertain. So we could see Harden back and Irving out. The Beard likely won’t play a ton of minutes and we could see him work off the bench (similar to Kevin Durant when he returned). If Irving and Durant end up sitting, Joe Harris ($4,800) and Bruce Brown ($3,900) are decent value plays. I’d also lump in Jeff Green ($4,400).
LeBron James, PG/SF, Los Angeles Lakers
Update: James will not play tonight vs. the Rockets. Davis (adductor) has been ruled out as well.
Reports from this week had James pegged as returning yesterday vs. the Knicks. Instead, LeBron is expected to be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Houston Rockets. If that is the case, James probably won’t be viable in DFS at $10,200. He’ll likely be on a minutes restriction of sorts. Even if he isn’t, this game likely won’t be competitive. The line is Lakers -13.5 right now. Guys in the $5K range like Kyle Kuzma, Talen Horton-Tucker and Alex Caruso are interesting plays depending on how the rest of the injury report looks.
Kristaps Porzingis, PF/C, Dallas Mavericks
Update: Porzingis is available to play tonight vs. the Pels.
Porzingis (knee) is being listed as questionable to play tonight vs. the New Orleans Pelicans. Porzingis hasn’t played since the end of April and has a shot at getting back in the lineup. Again, Porzingis may end up being on a minutes limit if he does return. Luka Doncic ($10,800) should be a good GPP play given the Mavericks need this game to move back into 5th place in the West. Dwight Powell ($4,400) would be a great value option if Porzingis remains sidelined.
Boston Celtics injury report
The Celtics will be missing four starters heading into tonight’s game vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jaylen Brown (wrist) is done for the season. Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart and Robert Williams are all sitting as well vs. the Cavaliers to manage injuries. Boston is in the 7-seed in the East and is in danger of dropping further down after losing back-to-back games to the Miami Heat. Jayson Tatum ($9,400), Evan Fournier ($5,500) and Payton Pritchard ($3,100) are all appealing plays in both formats on DraftKings.
