Tim Tebow now available in fantasy football and sports betting

The former NFL and MLB player is back and you can invest real money on him.

The NFL regular season is four months away, and that time will bring plenty of chatter around new Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Tim Tebow. New Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer is bringing in his old college quarterback, this time as a tight end. It was suggested early in his pro career that Tebow should switch to tight end. He held out and was out of the league by 2015 having played his last regular season game in 2012.

Now, Tebow is making a comeback and he’s on everybody’s radar. On Monday, DraftKings Sportsbook put together some Tebow over/under specials on receiving yards and touchdown receptions. The yardage is set at 12.5 and touchdowns is set at 0.5. Additionally, you can get him at +10000 to win Comeback Player of the Year.

On Tuesday, ESPN added him to their fantasy football product.

Tebow is a long shot to make the Jaguars roster given how long he has been out of the league, but the Jaguars tight end depth chart isn’t exactly locked down. The group includes Chris Manhertz, fifth round pick Luke Farrell, Tyler Davis, James O’Shaughnessy, and Ben Ellefson. Manhertz and Farrell profile as primarily blockers, leaving O’Shaughnessy as the best pass catcher in the bunch.

Jaguars columnist Gene Frenette tweeted after the Tebow reports that any shot Tebow has to make the roster will involved a role that goes beyond just tight end. That could mean goal line situations or a Taysom Hill-type of role. This does not bode well for the fantasy value of other Jaguars, although the roster as a whole is going to take some time to develop into significant fantasy relevance.
