The Washington Football Team selected former North Carolina Tar Heels wide receiver Dyami Brown with the No. 82 pick overall. Brown and the entire North Carolina offense as a whole put up monster numbers the past few seasons in all areas of the field. Brown flourished in that system, and he has a chance to prove himself at the professional level.

For the last two seasons, Brown and Dazz Newsome were a fantastic wide receive duo for the Tar Heels. In his final college season, Brown caught 55 passes for 1,099 yards with eight touchdowns in 11 games and made a name for himself getting behind defenders on the deep ball for huge gains.

Scouting Report

At least early on in his career in the NFL, Brown could have a role as a player who’s asked to go deep and try to outrun defenders. He excelled doing this in college, but in order to be a more reliable playmaker on offense, he will need to prove he can get open in short and medium routes. A player with his top-end speed and skill level will always have a role in the professional game but to be an elite wide receiver, he needs to work on other areas of his game. Drops were an issue at times in college, but he has a chance to contribute early.

Fantasy football impact

Rookie

Brown is joining a Washington wide receiver core that already has Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel, who they signed in free agency. Outside of those two guys, the WR3 job will be up for grabs between Brown, Steven Sims Jr., Cam Sims, and Adam Humphries. It’s hard to get an exact gauge on his fantasy rankings, but Brown could be FLEX option somewhere during the NFL season.

Long-term

Brown has the skills to be a very good wide receiver for a long-time in the league. Anytime you have top-end speed and can stretch the field, there will be a job for you. Washington could use the extra vertical help, which could open up things for both McLaurin and Samuel and vice versa.
